1 out of every 4 dying Americans is a Veteran!
The We Honor Veterans program is an effort by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). These organizations ask hospice care providers to become their partner in an effort to provide compassionate and respectful care for American Veterans.
Veterans have unique needs due to illnesses related to serving the country, including PTSD, psychosocial issues and more. Accredited Hospices of America works with the VA and families of veterans. We are honored to give our services to ensure veterans receive the assistance they deserve.
The “We Honor Veterans” Program allows the VA and hospice organizations to constantly collaborate care. Accredited Hospices of America believes that citizens who have served our country should receive the utmost excellence in care and services when faced with a life-limiting illness. Accredited Hospice of America therefore actively partners with the Veterans’ Administration to help patients apply for VA benefits. Accredited Hospice of America educates people on the benefits that are available, and work as a team with medical staff of the VA. In a majority of cases, veterans and their families have access to benefits from both the VA and Medicare. Our admissions and billing staff can assist you in accessing services to which you are entitled. Some veterans have unique medical needs in the end stages of lives, and our staff is specially trained to meet those needs.
